Jack's Theatre School is a safe space for everybody to develop the full range of theatre skills at their own pace and in a way that suits them. BE YOURSELF - BE INCLUDED is our strap line and that is because our key value is inclusion and this applies to all areas of life from people who identify on the LGBTQI+ spectrum to those with extra needs from a neurodiverse, physical or mental health perspective. We try really hard to meet you where you are and come with you on your journey into the skills of performance.  We teach lots of different dance styles, pop music vocals and musical theatre and acting from very first principals through to professional level. There's always an opportunity to perform and take exams but neither of these are expectations if they don't appeal to you or are stressful for you. Again it is always about what's best for you at your point in your development.

The old Methodist Chapel on Sheffield Lane has been transformed into a high quality performance and rehearsal space with sprung floor, mirrors and barres and two changing areas with comfy sofas and a small toddler play space.  We were recently flooded in October 2023 and so we have been able to rethink our studios and make each space even better (and flood resilient!). We're very proud of it and we think it works really well.

Jack’s owner, Olivia Egan, is a qualified dance teacher with the IDTA to Fellowship level and has level 3 teaching qualification in Somatic Voicework (TM): The Lovetri Method. Her singing students have won several prizes for the highest marks in their grade within the London College of Music for the Sheffield Region.  She has recently qualified to teach the "Progressing Ballet Technique" system for Ballet along side Rosina Andrews Turn and Leap Surgery systems which combine with the IDTA syllabi to build quality dancers. All students above 7 years of age are given the chance to take IDTA examinations, depending on their class these might be in Ballet, Tap, Musical Theatre, Theatre Craft (West End Style Dance) and Drama.  Students under 7 are given in-class milestones to reduce the pressure on them as they build their confidence.

We run Summer and Easter workshops during the holidays to give the opportunity for more fun in a more time intensive way. Full days incorporate craft and games alongside performance skills and time for building friendships and confidence.

Alongside regular showcases for parents, Jack’s put together a whole school show every other Summer. In July 2023, we were excited to present our first full length musical and dance show which told the story of a teenager trying to decide whether she should run away. She is aided by a mystical figure who leads her through other peoples stories to find her way "Home".  When staging our shows we try to find a balance between top quality technical staging, local venues and affordability so that students get the best experience possible.

As a school, we really want to be a part of the community, so if you have an event that we could come and perform at or a charity we could support, we would be very happy to get involved.  Just contact Olivia on the details below.

Classes are available for individuals and groups from all ages from toddlers to adults. We try and provide and high quality service at an affordable price and we hope that is what you will find. The most important thing for us is to create an environment which genuinely includes everybody.  Follow this link to see our values
